At Swansea University, the Department of Computer Science was rated 5 in RAE2001. The mission of the Department is to accomplish outstanding research in Computer Science and its applications that is fundamental and useful, and provide an excellent education for undergraduate and postgraduate students of the highest international standard.
It has always been the main objective of the Departmental Business Plan to expand Visual Computing at Swansea. For the 2008 RAE submission, the group collectively generated the highest number of publications (including 40 journal papers), received the highest amount of research income, awarded the highest number of research degrees, and serviced the highest number of companies in Wales.
